LION CLUB OF BOMBAY(JUHU GULMOHAR)

Lions club of Bombay (Juhu Gulmohar) was extended by Lions Club of Bombay (Khernagar), on 22nd July 1994. Lion Shyam Seernani was the Extension Chairman of this club. On this day all the club members selected their team to steer their club. Lion Bindu Seernani was elected Charter President of this club. Lion Sanjay Mehra was elected Charter Secretary. Lion Prakash Seernani was elected Charter Treasurer along with Lion Surinder Malhotra as 1st Vice President. This team was installed by then District Governor Lion Bharat Shah on 10th August 1994. Our club, even when a toddler of the district has been able to carry out various humanitarian projects with the able support of the district, and active participation of each member of our club.

We have consistently been involved in various projects like
1) Anaaj Daan.
2) Cataract Operations.
3) Sponsoring telephone booths for physically disabled persons.
4) Distribution of food & Medicines to Orphanages & Leprosy home.
5) Adoption of ICU Mobile Van.
6) Partnering with Sion Hospital for medical camps.

Apart from various other service activities, our club started the most prestigious project of constructing and equipping hospital for the mentally ill road side destitute for shraddha rehabilitation foundation at Dahisar, Mumbai. This massive project was later shifted to Karjat & is now fully functional curing various patients under the able guidance Dr. Bharat watwani and his efficient team.

Our club in the year 2008 had undertaken the mammoth task of constructing a school for mentally and physically challenged Adivasi Children at Jawahar. Renamed DIVYA VIDYALAYA, it is now being run on a 2-acre land with115 adivasi children, some mentally challenged & some blind who are residing, studying,learning music & getting vocational training within our school premise. The school building has been constructed with the help of Sewa International & various other NGOS.

Apart from this the club has also accomplished the under mentioned projects this year.

1) NANHE FARISHTEY on 30″ August 2015: A project in support of 1000 Tribal Children. Highlights of the project were: Free medical check up, free medicenes & spectacles, Entertainment with magic show, Quality food for all children, Tree plantations & Gifts for all children. Our club bagged 5 star platinum award for this project. 29 district clubs twinned with us in this project.
2) RELIEVING THE HUNGER: Dinner for under privileged children & their families & home cooked food for senior citizens at old age home.
3) ANMOL VASTRA: A project where we collected clothes from our area , washed & ironed them & distributed the same at tribal areas 2 days before Diwali.
4) Supplying Food & Medicines to our permanent project.
5) Medical Aid & cataract operations to the Mercy Mission applications received.
6) Distribution of note books & stationeries to school children whose parents cannot afford the
same.
7) Adoption of 2 children at our school in Jawahar.
8) Distribution of 1000 foot wears to Adivasi children.
9) Provided baby warmers at a hospital in Wada.

Our Club has extended two more Lions Clubs :“LIONS CLUB OF MUMBAI ENTREPEUNERS” & “LIONS CLUB OF BOMBAY SANTACRUZ”.
